💙 A question for you:

Where are you most likely to read the room before you read yourself?

At work? With family? In relationships? When someone asks something of you?

This week, notice one moment when you’re about to automatically agree, accommodate, or stay quiet.

Before you answer, ask:

What do I think?

You don’t have to act on every preference. Just make sure you’re still part of the decision.

Jess, I love the line about "giving your decision a voice at the table." That's really what it's all about. Knowing who you are and what you truly need to stand up for that's so important that it's not a time to compromise.

I think you've noticed in my writing I often split how I talk about things "day job" vs. "my own work" so I already live that duality. So I get the different parts of you that must peacefully coexist...at least sometimes :)

yes, I have noticed in your writing how you split up your writing about your day job and about your own work! each requires different values and having those values helps both your day job and you own work coexist and be able to happen at the same time and in between!

Staying true to yourself is less about never changing and more about knowing which parts of you are worth protecting while you do. The real danger is when adaptation becomes so automatic that you stop noticing whether you are evolving or simply becoming easier for everyone else to live with.
