We tend to interpret that discomfort as failure when itโ€™s often just the nervous system adjusting to a new pattern of life. I appreciate the emphasis on anchoring to values rather than circumstances, because circumstances shift constantly while the deeper direction of the heart can remain steady. In many ways it reminds me how small internal shifts accumulate over time and gradually reshape who we become. I explored that idea recently in a reflection called Compound Iniquity, about how tiny inner movements slowly form the direction of a life. If that resonates, Iโ€™d love to hear your thoughts: https://theeternalnowmm.substack.com/p/compound-iniquity

This speaks volume:..... " In reality, acceptance is what allows the nervous system to settle."

accepting what's within your control comes with peace.

Most definitely, Joseph! Getting out of the denial phase on the way to acceptance is a huge step and helps bring so much peace.

Incredible piece, Jessica. Understanding the 'hidden grief inside growth' is a concept anyone trying to build something new or force a transition needs to grasp. Really valuable perspective.

thank you so much, JP! I appreciate you reading and glad you found it valuable! we must grieve the loss of our old self that no longer fits anymore.

Love this, Jessica! I can personally attest to your point regarding repetition. Once I was able to handle uncertainty enough times, it starts to show up integrated with your nervous system instead of resisting against it.

Thank you, Dido! Yeah after the repetition you build skill, resilience, emotional capacity, a bigger window of tolerance, maybe more patience and more emotional control.

As always your post comes at the perfect time! Thanks for the reminder and gentle nudge forward ๐Ÿ˜Š

Thank you, Tiff! Iโ€™m glad my article resonated with you at the perfect time especially since it wasnโ€™t planned! As you know lot articles Iโ€™m writing to myself so maybe itโ€™s because weโ€™re both navigating new change and uncertainties right now.
