Imposter syndrome doesn’t show up because you’re unqualified. It shows up because you’re growing.

Jessica Drapluk's avatar

Imposter syndrome fades when feedback becomes information, not authority, and self-trust becomes the baseline.

You did very well. More on this.

Jessica Drapluk's avatar

thank you so much, Noni! I'll look into doing a follow-up article on imposter syndrome soon!

in the mean time our weekly skill of internal validation is how we can overcome imposter syndrome. here is the article link: https://open.substack.com/pub/npfellowjess/p/internalvalidation?utm_campaign=post-expanded-share&utm_medium=web

You're welcome Jessica 😊

Crazy part about this is with the rise of social media, there are a lot of imposters who act as experts but don’t suffer from imposter syndrome. Yet people will still let imposter syndrome stop themselves.

And I will forever refer to it now as identity lag. Love that!

Jessica Drapluk's avatar

You’re naming something really important. People with depth often experience identity lag because their internal standards are high, while performance culture rewards certainty over substance. I’m glad the language landed for you, Craig. Thank you for reading and commenting!

Craig Youngkrantz's avatar

It is a good piece. Thank you for sharing.

Jessica Drapluk's avatar

thank you so much, Craig! I’m glad you liked it. I’m most likely going to do a second article on imposter syndrome like a deeper reframe, so stay tuned! 🤝

Really loved the line that imposter syndrome only appears when you’re stretching. I feel like that’s something everyone needs to hear especially when they’re committing to something new or trying to be better

Jessica Drapluk's avatar

Yes, exactly. Stretching often feels uncomfortable before it feels stabilizing. That moment doesn’t mean you’re failing, it usually means you’re expanding. I’m glad this resonated with you, Abdul.🙌
