Jess, overall this is a beautiful sentiment. If only we can make the effort to be kinder to each other, what wouldn't be possible? And it starts with ourselves.
Jess, I like the idea of mental health being as much about presence of good feelings as the absence of less desirable ones, and it especially starts with being kind to ourselves. How can we be kind to others if we're not that way to ourselves first?
Hi Jess - thanks for your article. I know this isn’t what you asked but having read your article, an interesting point - as an English teacher ( outside Substack ) one thing that have often had to correct in my international students when they have said “she has mental health” when they mean “she is suffering from anxiety/ depression etc” and I have to explain that mental health is actually about wellbeing and they mean “ she is struggling with a mental health issue” - it doesn’t start with the suffering bit that’s just one part of it. It’s just interesting to me that the mind goes straight there.
Love this so much Jess, I always try to assume goodwill whenever bad things happen, and most of the time it is usually not malicious. Keep up with the great content, it never lets me down 🙂
I'd love to hear from you. 💙
What's one person—including yourself—you'd like to intentionally wish well this week?
It can be someone you love, someone you're struggling with, or simply yourself.
Sometimes the smallest intention can change the way we move through the day.
